The greatest pride any club can feel is when one of its players reachest the very highest of achievement in their sport. Clanwilliam was literally glowing with pride at the news that our very own Alan Quinlan had been selected as a Lion to play on the tour to South Africa.

Unfortunately Alan was cited for an incident in the Munster v Leinster Heinekin Cup Semi-Final in Croke Park. His case against that citing was unsuccessful, as was his appeal against that decision.  Although this is a disappointing outcome, we should remember that he was chosen as one of the top 37 players in Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales to be a British and Irish Lion and, apart from an indiscretion involving one or two seconds within a brilliant season, he would have been able to cap a brilliant career with the Lions.

Everybody in Clanwilliam and Tipperary is very proud of you Alan.
